Movie Review – Pet Semetary
To answer this question, we need to look closely at both adaptations. Undoubtedly the original from 1989 is a classic. Even if you watch it now for the first time, you will still feel creeps because then the horror genre didn’t rely on the so-called “jump scares,” but on pure psychology. That’s why it’s worth asking if the remake has succeeded in surpassing the original. First of all I have to mention that the remake of “Pet Semetary” was directed by the man behind the remake of another beloved Stephen King classic – IT, whose first part came out two years ago and the second is expected later this year.…

Movie Review – Alita: Battle Angel
The short answer – it is yet to be seen. Unfortunately, in recent years, the Hollywood anime adaptations are nowhere near good. To be honest, I can’t even think of one that comes close to watchable. We naturally rule out Japanese adaptations because they are completely different. Since the last Hollywood one, Ghost in a Shell, tried to cram a huge amount of information into a feature film and failed spectacularly, we thought we’d never see a successful adaptation… until now. Who is Alita and did this movie finally broke the adaptation curse, I’ll break down in this review. As you can guess, the source is a manga (Japanese comic…

Movie Review – 9 most watched Christmas movies
Christmas came and left, opening the way to the next holiday – New Year’s Eve. Like any other, this one was certainly filled with overeating, meeting with relatives, and perhaps overdrinking. But what distinguishes television at Christmas are the movies. For twenty years, the same productions have been running on all TV programs, both local and international. Home Alone, Santa Clause, I’ll be home for Christmas, Die Hard (for real), etc. In this article, I’ll look at the nine most-watched Christmas movies, some of which come out with the fall of the first snow. Here they are: 9. I’ll be home for Christmas (1998) I don’t know if you remember…

Movie Review – Six most anticipated movies in December
Entering the month of December, the festive mood is filling us like an overstuffed turkey. And here are the most anticipated movies for this month, sneaking from behind the corner. Some of them make the comic book fans, scream like little girls from excitement. Who are they, you can find in this list: 6. Mortal Engines – premieres on 14’th of December in USA The latest project of Peter Jackson, adapted from a book. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it? Truth be told, this steempunk saga doesn’t look half bad. The story takes place in a dystopian future, ruled by moving cities, who “eat” each other in order to sustain themselves and…

Movie Review – The best and the worst horror movies for 2018
Movies from this genre are as popular as any other. Everyone has their preferences for the sub-genres, but sometimes horrors, can be so well made, that they can even deserve an Oscar. In other cases, they are just made for money and the irony is that these are often the most successful ones. Here I’ll order the best and the worst for this year. Of course I will add my thoughts in each one, because the critic and audience scores can be quite different. From the worst: 8. Slender Man – 8% in RT For this first/last entry, I can agree with the critics, that it’s the worst movie, produced…

Movie Review – Six most anticipated movies for November
Every month we expect new releases from Hollywood. Whether or not they will participate in the Oscars, the strongest and most impactful movies are released at the end of the year. It’s no brainer, why cinefiles are always broke around this time of the year. It’s easy to guess which is the most anticipated movie for this month, with 95% participation rate, but I’ll start from the least expected. Here it is: 6. The Grinch Produced by Illumination studios, which gave us Despicable Me 1&2 and Minions, this animation will take us back to the village of Whoville and the Grinch, who stole Christmas. Over the years, we’ve seen several…

Movie Review – Bohemian Rhapsody
The shortest answer to that question is VERY MUCH. After I was finally able to watch the movie, I can safely say it is one of the best for this year and maybe the best biopic one I’ve ever seen. Although there are several differences between the movie and the real life of Freddie, the movie runtime is still above 2 hours. I suppose, that if they decided to do everything by the book, we would’ve sat through the new Lord of the Rings trilogy. The movie opens with the band, entering the stadium of Wembley, which is one of their last live concerts, before the death of Freddie Mercury.…

Movie Review – Bad times at El Royale or can we accept Chris Hemsworth outside the beloved role of Thor?
Three weeks ago, Fox released in theathers their latest thriller – Bad times at El Royale. However, despite it’s high score from critics and viewers in Rotten Tomatoes (73% and 76%), it didn’t perform well at the box office and hardly reached its budget, while at the same time, the latest installment of Halloween has made 5 times its budget. What might be the reason for that bomb I will try to break up in here. The movie opens with the arrival of a modest guy, sometimes in the 60’s, in one of the rooms of the hotel. I won’t spoil his reasons for staying there and how his story…

Movie Review – Venom or why is it so successfull?
Venom – the latest project of Sony in collaboration with Marvel, but set outside the MCU, seems to be highly successful all over the world. But why? The last solo projects of Sony, were The Amazing Spider-Man 1&2, which were received with mixed feelings by critics and public. As a result, Sony had to “loan” Spider-Man back to Marvel. They didn’t think twice, before integrating him in the MCU. By doing that, they created the most successful literation of the crawler on the big screen – Homecoming. Throwing Iron Man in the mix, was a nice touch as well. Although, Sony took the profits from the movie, they still needed…

Movie Review – Upgrade or “Wasn’t Tom Hardy in Venom?”
This year, a movie passed under the radar and it was Upgrade. The late coming trailer didn’t help for the movie’s popularity. However, I can simply say that this is the best R-rated movie this year. Deadpool doesn’t count because of its parody elements. The lead role in the movie is played by Logan Marshall-Green or better known, as the physically weaker Tom Hardy. And really the resemblance between the two is uncanny. The actor himself, was part of the cast of the notorious The O.C, which was a huge hit 13 years ago. There he played the troubled brother of Ben McKenzie’s Rayan, Trey. After this unforgettable role, the…
