Entering the month of December, the festive mood is filling us like an overstuffed turkey. And here are the most anticipated movies for this month, sneaking from behind the corner. Movies from this genre are as popular as any other. Everyone has their preferences for the sub-genres, but sometimes horrors, can be so well made, that they can even deserve an Oscar. In other cases, they are just made for money and the irony is that these are often the most successful ones. Here I’ll order the best and the worst for this year. Every month we expect new releases from Hollywood. Whether or not they will participate in the Oscars, the strongest and most impactful movies are released at the end of the year. It’s no brainer, why cinefiles are always broke around this time of the year. It’s easy to guess which is the most anticipated movie for this month, with 95% participation rate, but I’ll start from the least expected. Here it is: 6. The shortest answer to that question is VERY MUCH. After I was finally able to watch the movie, I can safely say it is one of the best for this year and maybe the best biopic one I’ve ever seen. Although there are several differences between the movie and the real life of Freddie, the movie runtime is still above 2 hours. Three weeks ago, Fox released in theathers their latest thriller –  Bad times at El Royale. However, despite it’s high score from critics and viewers in Rotten Tomatoes (73% and 76%), it didn’t perform well at the box office and hardly reached its budget, while at the same time, the latest installment of Halloween has made 5 times its budget. Venom – the latest project of Sony in collaboration with Marvel, but set outside the MCU, seems to be highly successful all over the world. But why? The last solo projects of Sony, were The Amazing Spider-Man 1&2, which were received with mixed feelings by critics and public. As a result, Sony had to “loan” Spider-Man back to Marvel. They didn’t think twice, before integrating him in the MCU. By doing that, they created the most successful literation of the crawler on the big screen – Homecoming. This year, a movie passed under the radar and it was Upgrade. The late coming trailer didn’t help for the movie’s popularity. However, I can simply say that this is the best R-rated movie this year. Deadpool doesn’t count because of its parody elements. The lead role in the movie is played by Logan Marshall-Green or better known, as the physically weaker Tom Hardy. And really the resemblance between the two is uncanny. The actor himself, was part of the cast of the notorious The O.C, which was a huge hit 13 years ago.
